Get ready: World Digital Preservation Day 2024 is approaching!

Bingo, video clips, hackathons, global events and institutions opening their doors showcasing what digital preservation is all about: That’s World Digital Preservation Day in a nutshell. On Thursday 7 November – in just two weeks’ time - World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD) 2024 starts as soon as the sun rises!

All day long we’ll publish blog posts from the digital preservation community on the DPC website and via social media, keeping you up-to-date with the latest developments in the digipres field. But that's not all! On the Day, the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) will organize a launch event in London for the Digital Preservation Toolkit for Community Archives. This preservation toolkit is a brand-new resource, which has been created alongside the University of Glasgow as part of the Our Heritage, Our Stories (OHOS) project, and developed in collaboration with a range of community archives. It will include a range of practical guidance, support, and advice to those working with digital records in the community context. There are still some tickets left for the face-to-face event in London BUT registration for the online event is now open too, so please sign up here! Through the theme 'Preserving Our Digital Content: Celebrating Communities’ we want to raise the roof and celebrate the diversity of the communities which surround and support us, whilst also drawing attention to the unique and valuable digital content which becomes their digital legacy. Institutions all over the world are organizing events in honour of World Digital Preservation Day.
