Het London Museum Documentation Network publiceerde onlangs een nieuwe toolkit voor het beheer van digitale collecties in GLAM organisaties. De toolkit presenteert richtlijnen voor het lange termijnbeheer van digitale collectie objecten door GLAM professionals.
''Digital Collection Objects (DCOs) are considered part of a museum’s collection and like physical objects, are subject to the same suggested procedures described in Spectrum. This toolkit is designed to provide museum professionals with a suite of practical, tried and tested tools and workflows, taken from the digital preservation community and adapted and interpreted for them, within the framework of Spectrum’s suggested procedures.
The aim is to ensure museum professionals are provided the correct information to enable them to identify, retrieve, store, preserve and access all types of DCO, both now and in the future.
This toolkit provides guidance on how museum professionals can provide and plan for the long-term management and care of and access to DCOs. All advice is in accordance with current digital preservation best practice and has been tried and tested within the international museum, archive, and library community."

Dit jaar vond het congres plaats van 19 tot 22 september bij de University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign (VS).
Samenvatting: Op 22 juni worden de resultaten van het project ‘Monitoring verouderende bestandsformaten’ gepresenteerd. Dit project is uitgevoerd door data scientist Rein van 't Veer in samenwerking met de werkgroep Preservation Watch, als onderdeel van het NDE-programma Preservation Watch en Preferred Formats.
