There is life after 10: Long term preservation of research data

Samenvatting
You are warmly invited to join us on Thursday 25 June 2026 at the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague for There is life after 10: Long term preservation of research data, a one-day event organized by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, LCRDM, and the Digital Preservation Coalition.
In many research contexts, the minimum retention period for research data is around ten years. But what happens after that? As the FAIR data ecosystem matures, it is becoming increasingly clear that FAIR data is only part of the story. To ensure continuity and long-term preservation, we also need to look beyond initial access and consider what should be kept for the longer term, by whom, and in what way.
This event brings together colleagues from across the data management and repository communities to explore how FAIR and TRUST can better connect, and how long-term preservation can help ensure research data remains valuable not just today, but for decades to come.
At the event, participants will have the opportunity to connect with experts from both the FAIR and TRUST domains, explore how long-term preservation completes the data lifecycle, and contribute to a more joined-up and sustainable data management ecosystem.
