Wat is een trash day?

Een ‘trash day’ of digitale opruimdag is een dag waarop jij en/of alle medewerkers van je organisatie zich enkel bezig houden met het ordelijk en toegankelijk maken van het digitaal archief. Op een digitale opruimdag kunnen onder andere volgende acties uitgevoerd worden:

• documenten van verschillende dragers naar één centrale locatie samenbrengen;

• documenten op de afgesproken locatie in je digitale klassement plaatsen;

• het digitale archief schonen;

• documenten verwijderen waarvan de wettelijke bewaartermijn verstreken is;

• documenten en mappen hernoemen volgens gemaakte afspraken;

• bestanden omzetten naar duurzame bestandsformaten.

Je creëert orde en ruimte op je server en/of harde schijven en in de cloud waardoor jij en anderen documenten makkelijker kunnen vinden.

A digital clean up day

In the digital world, similar to the environment, there is a huge amount of trash.
Unnecessary emails, files, apps, duplicates of photos and videos are all digital waste. 

This digital trash creates digital pollution that continues to consume energy even when we have forgotten it.
Digital trash sits in the backups on servers that provide us with cloud service and continue consuming electricity. 

Each year the internet and its supporting systems produce 900 million tons of CO2, which’s more than the annual output of the whole Germany.

Some studies estimate that in a decade the internet network will consume 20 percent of the world’s total energy*.

If we delete all unnecessary files, apps, photos and videos, we are not just saving a huge amount of CO2 but we are also extending the life of our gadgets, feel more balanced, and we take control over our lives, forge new digital habits, and we will be more efficient and satisfied.
